Getting Started 🎯

In this section, we'll guide you through the initial steps to get started with Secrets Vault. You have two options to use Secrets Vault:

1. The Secrets Vault portal, where you can protect different types of secrets via a web browser.
2. Several wallets have integrated Secrets Vault to safeguard your private keys and seed phrases. The list can be found below.

What do you need to use Secrets Vault?

• A standard web browser. Use the latest versions of common browsers to ensure you have the latest security updates.
• A browser running on a standard mobile device or computer with Windows, MacOS, Linux or Android.
• A device with a working camera or the capability to store image files.
• An internet connection (Secrets Vault does not work offline as of today).
• An email address or an account on a third-party platform such as Google, Discord, or GitHub (for social login).
• If you want to publish images openly, access to your accounts in social media sites.
• If you want to store the image in your cloud, access to your cloud sites.

Access and Authentication

To use Secrets Vault, you need to authenticate yourself. Currently, we support:

1. Email
2. Google
3. Discord
4. GitHub
5. Crypto-wallets that support EVM and/or are supporting WalletConnect

More mechanisms will be added continuously.

Creating a New Account

If you do not have an account, your first login will be your registration process.

Exception: for email & password registration, click first on that login option, and then on the "Register" link. Complete the information and validate your email.

Logging In

If you already have an account, enter your credentials and click the "Sign In" button. You'll be redirected to the dashboard upon successful authentication.

That's it! You're now ready to start using our web application.

User Dashboard

After a successful login, you'll be directed to your user dashboard. The dashboard serves as the central hub where you can access various features and functionalities of Secrets Vault. Here's an overview of what you can expect:

• Create a new secret: On the top side, you can press the button to create a new secret. You can create a new secret at any time, provided you haven't reached the limit.
• Safeguarded Secrets: On the bottom side, you will see a list of your secrets, to recover the one you wish. If you had no secrets, then this section will be empty.
• See which Secrets you have shared.
• See the list of your favorite Secrets.

Supported image formats and sizes for the Keepic

In this version, you shall be able to use common image formats without hassle, like:

• JPG/JPEG
• PNG
• WEBP
• BMP

Other formats may work, but they are not yet fully supported (e.g. GIF or TIFF)

Regarding the size of the image, the current version does not support images below 50k pixels, regardless of its format or shape.

Supported data to be included as secrets

In this version, you can safeguard a secret as:

• Standard text you type via the application
• Any type of file up to 8MB

Remember that we never, ever, are able to see your secrets, nor your images (the Keepic). If you lose the access to your Keepic, nobody can retreive the secret.

Supported social networks and messaging applications

In this version, we have integrated and tested several social networks and messaging applications, which are accessible directly from within Secrets Vault. They differ if you access via PC browser or via Mobile browser.

• Any social network that your Android or iOS allows to connect to

You may share your images via other applications, and we encourage you to try it and report your findings. But we are aware that some platforms make relevant modifications to the images you upload/share, which may impact the capacity to recover your secret (e.g., Instagram).

Integrated wallets / Dapps

We are currently working with different wallet and Dapp providers to integrate Secrets Vault functionality via our SDK.

Remember that with these integrations, the wallet/Dapp provider shares the information to be protected (e.g., your private keys), but that such information never leaves your device nor can be seen by us, ensuring your full privacy.
